Dog Days.

I know ,I know, I lied. I said I'd keep up with this thing, and I haven't. I'll try to make amends.

Just for continuity’s sake I’ll fill in the blank about Charlottesville. The job was for me to be the night side photographer, which is good. But because of the economy, which is bad, it was a “max part time” position. Basically they chopped an hour of a full time job and called it that. At this point I was thinking, “Okay, maybe this could still work out. It’s not that bad here.” Then I found out that I would be making 9.50 U.S. dollars an hour. My mouth was open. I know that I just got out of college and I shouldn’t be hoping for too much, but my high school neighbor who babysits 5 days a week is making more than that! They also told me that it would be OK to get a second job. It may seem more of a clear decision than it actually was. I gave it some thought and I decided to pass. Finding and moving into a new apartment on 9.50 hr wasn’t worth the foot in the door opportunity.

It's now August and still all quiet on the job front. But much like trench warfare I have made slow progress. I've decided to take a chance with the PR world. Ideally I would love to be an in-house production person; someone who has the creative freedom to shoot and edit video, interviews, and a variety of content. Since most of my experience has been in video production, it feels right. I’m more of a creative person.

To be honest I didn't feel that the news/ sports side gave me the creative leeway that I really like. There's no real art in news. There could be http://bop.nppa.org/2010/tv_and_web_video/editing/winners/. The topic of the story is pretty weird/ boring, but it’s really well done. It might be a ‘foot in the door,’ but I just can’t see myself doing something like that on a daily basis.

Switching gears: Just to make myself work on this more often I'm going to start putting a run down of 5 weekly songs that I've been listening to constantly, and 5 things in the news that I’ve been keeping up with. I’ve already set up the alerts to do such things!

Like I said before, random web explorers who washed on my blog’s desolate shores, feel free to comment on things.

As always Upwards and Onwards.
